FAQ

1. How well does my child need to ski or snowboard to participate in The Arc?

The Arc’s Core Skill Development Programs are designed for children aged 7yrs+ who are advanced skiers and want to develop their technical skills across all alpine skiing disciplines. While not a prerequisite, most children participate in seasonal development programs in the southern hemisphere winter. They need to have strong all-mountain skills, a love for the mountains plus the inner desire to dominate on- and off-piste!

The Arc’s Alpine Racing Programs are designed for children aged 10yrs+ who are advanced skiers who want to develop their ski racing skills in GS, Slalom and some Ski X. While not a prerequisite, most children participate in seasonal race squads in the southern hemisphere winter and have solid racing experience.

2. How do I arrange our flights, transfers and accommodation to Livigno?

Check out our Getting Here page for all the information you need to make your way to Livigno. We’re able to assist with any queries you may have, as well as provide accommodation options that have the stamp of approval from The Arc’s team as well as families who have participated in The Arc. We have carefully chosen accommodation options that are either within walking distance to the daily meeting place, or on the public transport route. The daily meeting place is the base of Valendrea Lift #29.

3. I have children younger than 7yrs and/or other kids who won't be doing the program. Is there anything for them?

We have developed a Mini Arc group* for our youngest shredders. Outside of that, we have forged a relationship with Livigno’s Autentico Alpine Experience who can arrange ski school and childcare for all ages. The Arc’s team is able to assist with all your family’s ski school requirements – just let us know!

4. Can we get skis, boots, poles, outerwear, etc when we get there?

Yes, Livigno is a shopping mecca and has dozens of high-end retail and hire outlets. The Arc has secured deals for The Arc families with Sport Zinermann, which sells everything you could need including top-end race specific equipment as well as a state-of-the-art tuning facility. The Arc can help facilitate all these requirements.

5. Is there a live-in opton?

No. The age range for this program is skewed younger than other programs in the market and as such, we do not offer any live-in option. We also saw a desire for families to enjoy a family holiday together rather than sending children away for a live-in camp.

6. Are lunch and lift passes included?

Yes! Both lunch and unlimited access lift passes are provided for each training day of the program. In true Italian style, participants are treated to a delicious and powerful a la carte lunch at an on-mountain restaurant each day. For the rest of the family, The Arc is able to arrange lift passes and have them available for you upon arrival in Livigno (cost of lift passes apply).

7. What is the age spread within the groups?

We will endeavour to group athletes by similar ability and age where possible, depending on the range of participants.

8. Will there be any specific discipline training, eg/ gates, skier x?

Absolutely! While the Core Skill Development Programs is more focused on developing skills outside of courses, we’ll be testing out our new skills in GS gates and Ski X courses during the second week of the program. Our highly skilled coaches will train your kids on best practice in race courses so they can feel confident to dominate on race day!

Participants in the Alpine Racing Programs spend a lot of time honing their race skills both in and out of gates (GS and Slalom) as well as some Ski X. We have secured a dedicated training hill for alpine training where national teams such as the Italian, Swiss and Finnish regularly train during spring.

9. Will there be a race?

Yes! All athletes, coaches plus their families are invited to race in The Arc Cup on the second last day – a super fun race day for all followed by a dinner and presentation evening.

10. What extra experiences does The Arc offer for all the family?

The Arc offers a range of on- and off-snow experiences for all the family. Once you register your child, you’ll be asked to select which extra experiences you’d like to take part in. Please note that additional costs will apply for these experiences.

11. I’d like to sign up. But what next? Easy! Here’s what to do:

  1. Contact us to express your interest. We’re more than happy to answer any questions or concerns, and guide you through the process of arranging your holiday;
  2. The Arc’s team will assess your child’s skiing ability and advise whether their skill level is suitable for the Program. If successful, we’ll send you the Enrolment Form which includes our Contract and Waiver, together with an invoice for 50% deposit of the Program Fee. Upon receipt of the completed Enrolment Form and 50% deposit, your child’s spot in the program is secured. Please see our Terms and Conditions here.
  3. Book your accommodation. We recommend arriving in Europe (whether in Italy or another destination) at least 2-3 days before the start of the program so you and your children can adjust to the time difference;
  4. Arrange your flights, transfers and insurance. Ensure your insurance cover is adequate for skiing groomed and un-groomed terrain within resort boundaries;
  5. Once Livigno releases its lift pass rates in around October, The Arc will send you a request for information to allow us to arrange lift passes for your athlete and family (if applicable);
  6. Balance of the Program Fee is due by 1 December;
  7. In December, you’ll receive a complete program itinerary and details on equipment requirements; then
  8. Jump on that plane and let’s shred!

12. When is payment for the program due?

50% deposit payable upon enrolment, with the balance payable by 1 December. Please see Terms and Conditions here.
