The Arc launches The Arc – Whistler, for budding Alpine and Ski Cross athletes
In addition to The Arc – Livigno, The Arc is excited to announce the launch of The Arc – Whistler. Designed for budding ski racers (Alpine and Ski Cross), The Arc – Whistler is an alpine specific training program in collaboration with the renowned Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC).
Offering 2 x 2-week blocks of intense training in February and March 2019, The Arc – Whistler is open for children aged 10+years who want to progress their ski racing in a fun, dynamic environment with world-class coaches.
Created by two-time winter Olympian Jono Brauer in collaboration with WMSC, The Arc – Whistler will provide budding ski racers with the following exceptional and dedicated training opportunities across Alpine Racing and Ski Cross:
• Unrestricted access to the WMSC closed training piste on Whistler Mountain
• WMSC coach support including Britt Janyk, one of Canada’s most successful Alpine skiers who will be one of The Arc – Whistler’s coaches
• Ability to train alongside the WMSC seasonal athletes. WMSC is a premiere alpine training club, boasting a large selection of Canadian national team members
• Access to one of the largest ski areas in the world, Whistler Blackcomb – offering over 200 marked runs, 8,171 acres of terrain, 16 alpine bowls and 3 glaciers combined plus an average annual snowfall of 1,170cm
• Dedicated Alpine Racing (GS) and Ski Cross training pistes for The Arc and WMSC:
- From resort open to close on nominated training days, The Arc will have access to the Ptarmigan race arena on Whistler Mountain
- A variety of alpine freeskiing pistes, providing multiple variations in length and difficulty
- Access to the Whistler-Blackcomb’s Ski Cross tracks (subject to conditions)
The focus of The Arc – Whistler is core skill development, in alignment with Ski and Snowboard Australia’s (SSA) current pathways framework for the development of the young skier, concentrating on the Alpine and Ski Cross disciplines. So while there will be plenty of in situ training (gates and Ski Cross courses), there will be a strong emphasis on ensuring the core skills of future ski champions are developed.
Read here for more information about The Arc – Whistler. Spots are strictly limited for this alpine-specific program, so be sure to register now. To ensure applicants have the requisite skiing ability to participate in the program, The Arc’s team will then assess and approve each application before registration is complete. Then get ready to shred Whistler-Blackcomb with The Arc – Whistler!
